Google Calendar for Life and your class

Okay so yes Google rocks. And I know it, I have the g1 phone which is all about google stuff. Google calendar currently keep all my events and happens right in my hand. It gives great alert reminders when I am running behind. Google reader is bomb because you can read books right on screen. I have been using this tool for a while now and loving it more and more. I love to read so I just turn my phone on and get on google reader and I can browse books they have listed find ratings the whole nine yards. Another cool thing is that you can even share your calendar, so if someone wants to know what your up just send it to them. I am sure you could use google reader in class by allowing your students to sign up and reads some book on it. You could also set up a google calendar to remind them of test dates and quizes. It could be like a virtual assigment notebook everyone could be signed up for. This is a very cool button that I just created to allow graduate students to click on to add this SGA Grad. Forum to their calendars. It's a virtual invitation which I think is mega cool! I actually really want the graduate students in our class to click on this button because I need to know what graduate students want SGA to do for them. This Activity was fun and of great use. Can't wait to find more creative ways to intergrate this into my classroom.

RSS Feeds and using them

This was all about RSS feeds. I found some cool ones and signed up for those. I explored all the different types and ways to find them. At first it was a little confusing then I did get the hang of it. I think it's cool to find some good site you would like to be apart of. *Which method of finding feeds did you find easiest to use? The easiest way to find feeds is to use the search tool bar and type in things your into. *Which Search tool was the easiest for you? The search box *Which was more confusing? Clinking on the links was not the best use of my time when I first entered the site it was a little weird. *What kind of useful feeds did you find in your travels? Find some cool stuff on science and about school lunch. All kinds of stuff, it was really a buffet of cool sites. A great mix of old school meets new school. *Or what kind of unusual ones did you find? Find some stuff about old video games is was wierd and neat at the same time. *What other tools or ways did you find to locate newsfeeds? I think their was a most popular sites thing were you could search by date of when they got chose as most popular.

RSS in the classroom

So I have been using RSS for a while just didn't know exactly everything that was invovled. I love to follow all my favorites of everything I am into. Which is alot. I picked some really cool ones for teaching science that am really excited about. I am hoping to come across some people who are pushing this 2.o thing for science. And looking for ways to be better prepared for teaching everyday, day in and out and making it fun and exciting! I think this RSS blog can be a long term thing I read and keep reading all the time. This was fun.... •What do you like about RSS and newsreaders? I like the fact that once you click on them you are signed up and have a quick link to the site. •How do you think you might be able to use this technology in your school or personal life? It's a great way to link up to all your favorite sites and also get to share them and keep up dated very quickly without searching. •How can teachers use RSS or take advantage of this new technology? They can find site that pertain to what they are teaching and sign up for the rss feed to keep up to date on the changes, late breaking news and gains in the their fields.

Comic strip generator for the classroom

This was cute little site I found! And of course since I love buggs bunny it was a cool way to create a little image. This could be a fun thing for students to do personal a project of there own or to personal things for powerpoints ect. This could be a very cool way to make personal signs to post up all over your classroomto encourage your students. You could also use this for your bullentin boards. And as a way to make your room look all nice and personalized the way you would like it. http://www.comicstripgenerator.com/

Flickr as a visual learning tool

I just played around with some photos and picked where I took them. This would be a great tool to use in school for anything to that had to do with a project on your family, family, family vacation, travel's of certain individuals to use as a visual tool of sorts. Oh I could think of tons of ways to use this. I had this great idea for biology if your studing ecosystems. You could have the students go and take pictures of the place. And describe it and then link it to a map and let them present their findings in class. I think they would have a blast. You could have them use pictures they took on trips and all sorts of things are encourage them to explore their own neighborhood. Cool tool!

What I think about Flickr in the classroom

/photo16/36/0f/b7883f12b645.jpeg http://www.flickr.com/photos/thejenclassic/4307699763/ Flickr is a fun place to explore. The Fact that you can upload pictures and share them is very cool. I even joined about ten or so different groups of kind of pictures. It is a great way to find and share pictures with the world. You could even enourage students to find various pictues pertaining to science on this site too.

I just discovered Pandora website

http://www.pandora.com/ The Website I picked was Pandora Okay I heard about this site before but I had not explored. Let's just say I LOVE THIS SITE! Okay I went futher than this and have now installed the app on my g1. Now I can listen to the songs I love anywhere lol. The Coolest thing about Pandora is you type in the music and artist you like then it plays songs just like it back to back to back. I even texted the link to one my close friends. We like oldies like the 60's stuff and every song we like to sing is on there. I KNOW why this site won an award is wicked cool! Where has the site been all my life. Now I can give my ipod a break and just listen to pandora on my phone. If you have not tried this site check it asap!

School 2.0 concept Online Learning

Reactions to the articles. To me I knew that School 2.0 was on it's way a long time ago. I just believe that the schools need to step up even more. But I know the key to that is often times funding. Yet I believe anything we can do as teachers to promote usage of the web for learning and technology in classes we school. The younger kids in school are even more active on the web than before. It is now very important that educators understand the role that plays in the lives of students everywhere. I am glad that more reasearch is being done and that lots of school are kicking into gear. What's at our fingers tips now is truly impressive. I have the web on my phone. And I love it. I can even get on live text and type an assignment if I like all in what ever time I have avalible because it's on my phone. I have e-mailed linked there. And of course since my phone is a g1 google search is on the front. I hope that in the near furture more and more people have the same options. Because while there are those that know still there are those that don't. In the tims we live in now you can not afford to be computer-illiterate. This may sound silly but my grand-dad now how e-mail and when I told him he could not be computer illiterate he just went on and on about me saying he was illiterate. But until I introduced him to it he was. But now he checks his e-mail and even will write me back. Even my mom used to be so "anti computer stuff" as she would say. Now she facebooks me everysingle day, she sends me video's and posts thems and puts up quotes and loves all the games. Plus she uses it to study for her sunday school lessons and to get ideas just in general. The world is changing, she even got her own lap top ha ha ha. If you knew my mom you would laugh her too. The great thing is now she doesn't call me all the time to look up stuff for her on the web she does it on her own. To educate our young on how to use this tool would be placing them at risk. It is standard now that you must be able to get use the tools we have in almost evey venue of the life we now live. Schools of the future have to step up. Work hard to interface all these different types of resources into the classroom. Grants need to be wrote, and funding needs to be aquired to place smartboards, clikers, computers, projectors and the like in classrooms everywhere. Times have changed and we must with this change keep growing and keep up with the this 2.0 which one day I'm sure will be 3.0 and above. It just keeps getting better all the time.

Power of Your Voice Online

It's nice to know that someone reads what you write. That your ranting online is not going unheard. You feel as if you have a voice. Plus every time you comment on someone else blog they know you read what they said and gave their ideas and thoughts some consideration. It makes them feel good and you brings two bloggers sitting in two very different places together. I decided to follow all three of my classmates I sit beside and study with and I commented on their posts. Lacie, Goeun, and Kristin are now apart of my blogging community! I also commented on Trey and John's blogs from our class too. The other two blogs I picked one was about a kinda ode to NES which I happened to love when I was a kid. Except they didn't talk about Zelda which was the best video ever! I did comment that on the blog but I also gave kudos for making the noteworthy section which is where I found the blog. The second blog I commented on was fed up with school lunch project blog. It was a very good blog with cool pictures. And the blogger Mrs. Q was very cool about her project and her life of eating school lunch ect. I could totally get with her because when I was a health edcator I used to get to eat the school lunch free where ever I went. And when you are teaching all day it's just easy to stay at the school and eat lunch than go out. I was amazed because the food looked the same. I wanted to say more on her blog but there wasn't a full comment space but I did rate a response which was different but very cool!

How I started Blogging

I set up my blog for 23 things and begin designing my page. There were many helpful options and cool stuff to choose from. I then made my doppel me imagine and figured out how to design my self as an avatar. It was very funny to see myself that way but I went ahead and posted it up. Some new things have been added to blogger since I last got on and it was cool to explore the new stuff. I have been a member on Blogger for a while. I set up resume' on here. I used to blog alot but I normally did my with myspace blogs. It's the same kinda idea though. Blogs are a great way to express your self. Which in my case I do alot of expressing in person so my blogs are normally all over the place just the same. I am going to try to focus on the task at hand which at the moment is learning and trying to come up with good ways to use all this technology we have at our finger tips. I think it would cool to have the things have a science blog. For the Love of Science could be their titles and they could take pictures of animals, plants, and all the world around them and do weekly projects. And then they would be able to share their findings with the world at the large. Everyone loves new stuff lol. This was not a hard activity it was pretty easy also.

Blogging as a Teacher

I think the best use of a blog for me as a teacher would be reflect on the days happenings. It seems normal for me to do that. I would even include what worked and what didn't. It would serve as a great way to look back at where I started and where I am now. When I think about a blog it reminds me the root word log. A log is way to keep track of where you have been and even where you want to go. I am looking foward to blogging my way through this class. It was very easy for me to jump right in and I found the site listed for this easy to follow. I registered my blog and am now enjoying the process.

Lifelong Learners (Graduate Schools Blog)

For thing one we had to view the activity on lifelong learners. I that it was a very good activity. It gave a wonderful perspective on learning and how it a journey of sorts. I totally agree that we are on a journey to learn. As a teacher is something you should plan to do for the rest of your life because it is very important to get to know your students and relate to them where they are. I love the first one Begin with an end in mind. I have been thinking about my end for a while now. It may sound silly but I want to one of the winners of the teacher of the year. Because to me this would be a great indicator that I am not only a good teacher but such inspiration that others have taken note. I want to leave behind a legacy. Somethings that points the way for others on what we need to do. I am willing to accept responsibility for my own learning because learning is fun! And although I don't like problems I am willingly to view them as a challenge because that's what they are. And I have confidence in myself that am more than able to be the best, have an amazing full toolbox, use all the technology I can and teach others to do the same!
